Sara Bondesson

Sara Bondesson is a researcher at Crismart. Sara holds a PhD in political science, Department of Government, Uppsala University, a MA (Magister) in political science, Swedish National Defence University, and a BA in political science, Department of Political Science, Stockholm University.Sara specializes in disaster management, disaster risk reduction, gender issues, political participation, empowerment and social vulnerability. Her dissertation was an ethnographic field study detailing the work of dissident movements after hurricane Sandy in New York City, focusing on issues of power, inequality and vulnerability. Current research includes work on disaster risk reduction, humanitarian relief after and gender studies.

Areas of research and education

Sara currently holds the course responsibility for the undergraduate course Societal Security and is planning an upcoming graduate course in Field Study Methodology. Earlier teaching includes lectures at the graduate course Public Policy Analysis, and thesis supervision of bachelor and master students, mostly with a focus on field study methodology. Sara has also been teaching courses at the Department of Government and at the Centre for Gender Studies, Uppsala University.
