CMCEP - Senior Course on Crisis Management and Civil Emergency Planning

The aim of the course is to provide the participants with an enhanced knowledge base and analytical tools for effective and legitimate crisis management and civil emergency planning.

About the course

The course offers the participants a comprehensive overview on Crisis Management (CM) and Civil Emergency Planning (CEP) with the objective of increasing the participants' knowledge and understanding of the various parts and linkages.

The course methodology is a combination of lectures, facilitated discussions, and scenario-based learning. The extensive use of facilitated discussions and various forms of group work in scenario-based learning modules requires active participation to support learning objectives.

The participants

The course is part of the Swedish contribution to Partnership for Peace (PfP) and is primarily open for PfP and NATO countries. If the number of participants from mentioned countries is not filled other countries may be considered.

Invited participants are civil servants, diplomats, civilian police, military personnel and academics, with a professional interest in Crisis Management with focus on Civil Emergency Planning. The course also provides the participants with an opportunity for international networking.

Administrative matters

The course will be held at the Institute for National Defence and Security Policy Studies at the Swedish National Defence College (SNDC) in Stockholm. The address is Drottning Kristinas väg 37.

The course is run on behalf of the Swedish Ministry of Defence.

The 2013 course will run May 27 - 31.

Qualification

The participants are required to have at least basic knowledge and experience in the fields covered in the course. The course methodology is a combination of lectures, facilitated discussions, and scenario-based learning. Good proficiency in English is a requirement.

The course is free of charge. However, participants are expected to cover their own travel costs and costs for board and lodging.

Information

In a limited number of cases, where sufficient funds are not available, scholarships may be granted to cover part of these expenses. The Course Management will be able to inform those participants who have been granted scholarship at the end of April. Application for scholarship should be indicated in the end of the application form, under General Information.
