The SNDC participates in conducting an anti-corruption seminar in Montenegro
21 October 2009
The Folke Bernadotte Academy with Lena Andersson (Balkan Analysis Group) conducted together with SNDC with Thomas Klementsson within the framework of Security Sector Reform an Anti-corruption seminar in the capital of Montenegro the 14th-15th October.
The seminar was conducted after a request from the Directorate for Anti-Corruption Initiative in Montenegro to the Folke Bernadotte Academy. The content of the seminar was discussed between the Directorate and the Folke Bernadotte Academy and was based on the SSR course "Building Integrity in Defence Establishments" that SNDC earlier conducted in Ukraine, the PfP Training Center (PSOTC) in Sarajevo, the NATO School Oberammergau and in Afghanistan.
The purpose of the seminar was to strengthen good governance, transparency and to increase integrity to reduce corruption within the defence and the public sector.
The Swedish consul in Podgorica, Mr. Sasha Vujasic, opened the seminar together with the head of the Human Resource Management Agency, Mrs. Vukovic. The seminar was covered by most of the medias and interviews were given to both press and TV. The seminar was well timed due to the release of the EU report regarding Montenegro corruption that happened the same day.
Around forty participants from different Departments and Ministries took part in the seminar and the overall feed-back was that the seminar had been a success and conceived as valuable. A request will follow on a "train the Trainer" course in 2010.
