Anna Lindh library to house Nato depository library

25 January 2012

The Swedish Defense College and the Anna Lindh library have launched a cooperative effort with Nato Multimedia Library in Brussels whereby the Anna Lindh library will serve as a depository library for Nato publications. The Anna Lindh library is the only Nato depository library in the Nordic region.

The goal of this collaboration is to make visible and accessible material issued about and by Nato. This material consists of print and electronic resources for students, instructors, and researchers at the Swedish Defence College as well as the general public. This material will also be made available to employees of the Swedish armed forces, the military's research institute (FOI), and the Swedish Defence Material Administration. This cooperative project will include an exchange of library services, for example interlibrary loans of books and articles, as well as the creation of a physical space at the Anna Lindh library for a collection of Nato material, multimedia, and a search station connected to Nato's website. The library will also provide search help for visitors interested in using Nato's electronic resources.

The Anna Lindh library will facilitate interlibrary loans ordered by Nato's Multimedia Library in Brussels as well as provide, upon request, access to publications issued by the Swedish Defence College.

A later stage of the project aims to establish links between the Anna Lindh library and other Nato depository libraries throughout Europe.

The opening of the Anna Lindh library's Nato depository is scheduled for the end of February/early March 2012.
