Command and Control Science

Command and Control Science deals mainly with the formulation of goals, as well as the selection, coordination and direction of resources for attaining goals in time-limited activities that often imply risks for those involved.

These goals may demand a series of activities (such as in a command at the operational level), or in an individual activity (such as in a command at the tactical level). Important examples are command and control in armed combat, in a military context, and command and control in rescue operations during accidents and disasters.

Within Command and control science, projects are primarily conducted on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces and MSB – Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. The current research projects are about:

  • Management and cooperation in crisis and war
  • Leadership and management
  • Situational management and collaboration
