User guides Inspera Originality
On this page, you will find user guides to help you get started with Inspera Originality (IO), the text-matching tool.
How does the tool work in Canvas?
The text-matching tool is accessed and activated directly in Canvas. As a teacher, you can activate plagiarism checking with Inspera Originality when you create an assignment in Canvas.
Create an assignment with plagiarism checking
- Create a new Assignment.
- Enter the name and description of the task. In the description, you can also inform that the submission is plagiarism reviewed with Originiality.
- Select the Online submission type, then select the submission type option "Text entry" and/or "File Uploads".
- Select Plagiarism review via Inspera Originality. We recommend that you initially leave the Originality settings as they are.
- Fill in the remaining settings for the assignment and click on save.
If you already have created an assignment in Canvas with plagiarism checking via Ouriginal you can update the existing assignment with only a few clicks. Edit the assignment you want to activate Inspera Originality on, and update as described in step 4 above.
Find and review the Originality report
After Originality analyzes the submissions, a report is automatically generated. In the report, you can see which parts of the text are original and which parts have been flagged as potential plagiarism.
You can access the report directly in Canvas, either via Speedgrader (by clicking on the plagiarism percentage) or via Grades in the course menu.
