Inspera Originality
The previous text-matching tool Ouriginal has been replaced by Inspera Originality in October 2025. The tool works very similarly to the previous one and is integrated into LMS and Inspera, and is used to discover and prevent plagiarism.
What is Inspera Origniality?
Origniality analyzes texts to detect similarities, text manipulation and plagiarism where the text has been translated from one langugage to another, and generates an alert in case of suspicion. Like Ouriginal, it is used to analyze student submissions and generate reports to support assessment. As a teacher, you will have to review and assess if there is any plagiarism.

How does Inspera Originality work?
Originality is integrated with LMS (Canvas) and Inspera, and teachers can choose to check plagiarism via Originality when creating assignments or exam assignments. Inspera has several guides, in English, on how the tool works. We also recommend watching the two video guides linked below.

Inspera Originality Standalone
Inspera Originality is primarily used as an integrated tool in Canvas. However, as a teatcher, you also have the option of using the tool standalone, outside of Canvas. To log in directly to Originality, click on the "Login with SWAMID" button on the log in page.

What does Inspera Originality check for?
The documents are matched online against the Internet, publischers material and Originality's archive with previously submitted student material to find any plagiarism. Originality checks for, among other things:
- Similarity against public sources, archives of published academic work and previous student work
- Text that has been translated
- Text manipulation, such as character replacement or hidden text (white text)
