Hunger as a security issue: watch the conversation with Carl Skau

Carl Skau, Acting Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), visited the Swedish Defence University to discuss the links between hunger, conflict and security and why food security has become a crucial issue for national security and global stability.

Carl Skau is one of Sweden’s most senior representatives within the United Nations and the first Swede to lead WFP. As Acting Executive Director, he heads the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, which helps more than 100 million people in 120 countries fight hunger every year.

Students from the Swedish Defence University were specially invited to attend the conversation in Sverigesalen on 27 August. Vice-Chancellor Robert Egnell moderated the discussion. The event was organised in collaboration with the Nordic Office of the United Nations World Food Programme.
