Banned Books Week, 6–12 October
Welcome to the Anna Lindh Library to browse, borrow, and read books that are — or have at some point been — banned somewhere in the world.
Freedom of expression is facing a multitude of both new and longstanding threats. Authoritarian currents are gaining strength, and literature is being banned and censored — even in societies previously regarded as open.
The Anna Lindh Library is taking part in Banned Books Week Sweden, organised by the Dawit Isaak Library in Malmö and Swedish PEN. Banned Books Week was widely launched in Sweden for the first time in 2023, though it originated in the United States in 1982, where it is organised by the American Library Association.
