1325 at 25: Achievements, challenges and opportunities for fostering feminist insights on peace and security

Del av FN-byggnad samt workshopens titel

To mark the 25th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the research group on Gender, Peace and Security at the Swedish Defence University invites you to a day of celebration and reflection on the progress made since the adoption of the resolution in 2000.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which for the first time recognised the importance of feminist perspectives in promoting international peace and security. The adoption of nine more resolutions in the following years has anchored what is often referred to as the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in the international context.

Sweden has been an early advocate and driving force behind the agenda, and in 2019 the first Anna Lindh Professorship in Gender, Peace and Security was inaugurated at the Swedish Defence University.

To mark the 25th anniversary, the Gender, Peace and Security Research Group at the Swedish Defence University– which was established around the Anna Lindh Professorship – invites you to a day of celebration and reflection on the progress made since the adoption of Resolution 1325 in 2000, the challenges that the Agenda continues to face, but also the opportunities that exist to continue to deepen our understanding of international peace and security.
