Carl Skau, Acting Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme, will visit the Swedish Defence University on 27 August to talk about how hunger and food security are national security issues.

As geopolitical tensions rise and the number of people facing hunger reaches record levels, food security has become a critical component of national security and global stability.

Carl Skau is among Sweden's most senior leaders in the UN and the first Swede to lead WFP. As Acting Executive Director, he oversees the world's largest humanitarian organization, which assists more than 100 million people across 120 countries each year in the fight against hunger.
