Open lecture: Scaling transformative change
Welcome to an open lecture by Karen O'Brien, Zennström Professor in Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University and Professor emerita at the University of Oslo.
The scale of the climate crisis challenges us to think, organize, and act differently. To do so, we may need to think differently about the process of scaling transformative change.
Drawing on the UN Expert Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services' evaluation, this talk focuses on the importance of engaging with the practical, political, and personal spheres of transformation. The lecturer discusses the role of “fractal agency” in scaling equitable and sustainable transformations, and why our actions matter more than we think.
