This year's admission to the Officer Programme

Interest in the Officer Programme continues to break records. This year, 116 women have accepted a place on the programme, representing a record-high 30 per cent of new students.

In this year’s admissions round, 1,361 people applied to the Officer Programme. Of these, 616 were eligible and were offered a place on the programme in early May. A total of 385 applicants have now accepted their offer, the highest number since the programme was established. Among the new students, 116 are women — also a record figure.

The naval warfare specialisation within the programme has also seen record interest, with 57 individuals accepting a place. Notably, 40 per cent of them are women.

FACTS: From application to programme start

Applications to the Officer Programme at the Swedish Defence University are open each year from December to January. Immediately after the application period, an initial eligibility check is carried out based on the applicant’s upper secondary school grades, military qualifications, and citizenship.

Those who pass this initial check proceed to tests, interviews, a suitability assessment, and a security clearance. Applicants who successfully complete these steps are deemed eligible for the programme and are either admitted or placed on a reserve list in the first selection round.

The second selection round then includes all those who accepted an offer in the first round, along with admitted reserves. The programme begins in August.
