My research interests are centred on security studies, with overlapping projects and strands that include critical border studies, ontological security, gender and security, Swedish security, military non-alignment / neutrality, and aspects of technology and warfare.
I am currently engaged in the following research projects:
* From a “Sea of Peace” to a “NATO lake”? A feminist security analysis of island militarisation in the Baltic Sea. Funded by Östersjöstiftelsen (Led by Dr Sanna Strand and with Associate Professor Emil Edenborg)
* ‘“Prepping” for security in Sweden’. Funded by Vetenskapsrådet (with Maria Stern, Anja Franck Karlsson, Simon Turner, and Richard Georgi).
* FoT project on alliance narratives, with a focus on AUKUS.
I joined FHS in 2025. My previous appointments have been in Australia and the UK, and I obtained my PhD from the University of Manchester.
I am an Associate Editor for International Studies Quarterly, and am on the editorial board of Critical Military Studies and Global Studies Quarterly. I am also the Australian representative on the Civil Society Advisory Panel (CSAP) on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) to NATO (2023-2026).
