Research Skills Resource

The Research Skills Resource is a self-paced learning resource designed for doctoral students who wish to strengthen their understanding of academic searching, research data management, and scholarly communication.

The resource consists of three modules, each focusing on one of these core topics. Every module includes study materials, practical assignments, and a quiz. The modules can also be complemented by on-site workshops or be included in ordinary courses.

By completing the learning resource, you will learn how to:

  • conduct effective literature searches, critically evaluate information and search processes, use reference management tools, and compare different approaches to literature reviews.
  • plan, manage, and share research data responsibly, in line with ethical, legal, and FAIR data principles.
  • navigate the scholarly publishing landscape, evaluate publication channels, understand open science practices, and recognize how publications are used to assess research impact.

The resource is available on Canvas and can be completed at your own pace, whenever needed. Each module is designed to be studied independently, allowing you to engage with the content when it is most relevant to your research journey.

Bear in mind that, as of now, the module on scholarly communication is still in development and will be available soon.
