Transcription at FHS
The Swedish Defence University now has a transcription service, Sunet Scribe. The service has been launched spring 2026 with a pilot. If you are interested in taking part in the pilot and to test the service, here you can read more about the transcription service and how to sign up for the pilot.
- Sunet Scribe is not for storage but for temporary processing data
- Sunet Scribe is approved for use for sensitive personal data.
Not for security-sensitive information.
How the transcription service works
Sunet Scribe is a transcription solution for higher education institutions and other organizations in the research and education sector. Today, Swedish, our other Nordic neighboring languages as well as English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian and Ukrainian are supported. The platform is provided by Sunet and is under development and is specifically designed for secure transcription of audio and video material.
Sunet Scribe is used in the following ways at FHS:
- Transcription of audio or video files for export to text or subtitle files - via web interface.
- In FHS Play – for automatic subtitling of lectures and recorded films.
The service has built-in speaker identification (diarization), editing functionality, and export in several different file formats.
The primary target groups for the position at SEDU are researchers and in some cases students who need transcription of interview material may also have access to the service. Furthermore, communicators and teachers who need accessible subtitles for external communication and teaching materials can be given access.
About the pilot
Throughout the year 2026, a pilot introduction of the system will be carried out. If you are interested in participating in the pilot, please contact the ICT educators. During the pilot, the transcription cost will be covered by ALB.
