Registration for Arctic workshops and seminars

Welcome to participate in the open session and workshop on energy security, infrastructure and crisis preparedness in the Arctic, funded by a NORDFORSK grant, which will be held at the FHS, Stockholm, on 8–11 December 2025.

This workshop brings together experts and leaders from seven member states of the Arctic Council (Russia is not participating) to explore critical challenges, opportunities and strategies to strengthen energy security, infrastructural resilience and crisis preparedness in the European Arctic. This workshop provides a unique platform for open discussions with the aim of fostering collaboration and strengthening ties between key stakeholders to address current challenges in the Arctic region's energy security infrastructure.

On Monday 8 December, the Strategic Node Total Defence for the Arctic at the Department of Systems Science for Defence and Security invites you to an open session that begins the workshops where Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard discusses Sweden and the Arctic, and Director General of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) Mikael Frisell will share his perspective on energy security, infrastructure and crisis preparedness for the Arctic. Places must be occupied by 08:45.

In the workshop, from Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 December, we will cover current topics such as the Arctic security landscape, Arctic infrastructure, Arctic security, operations in Arctic weather conditions, the Arctic legal dimension and academic cooperation. Each session begins with a lecture by an internationally recognized chair, followed by group work in which we address key issues in relevant scenarios.
