Checklist for a complete application

Use the checklist below to keep track of important dates and required documents for War and Defence.

Upload all required documents to your user account on universityadmissions.se.

  • All documents must be in Swedish, English, Danish or Norwegian or translated to any of these languages by an authorised translator.

  • Title all documents you upload. Make sure your documents are structured with a corresponding title and application year.

Checklist for required documents

  1. Degree certificate and transcript/grades
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  2. If you are in your final Bachelor year, you can still apply. Please provide a signed and stamped document from your home university stating that you are likely to graduate before the semester when your master’s studies start. Please use the statement of enrollment status form on University Admissions webpage. If admitted it will be with the condition that you submit your degree certificate before the start of the programme.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  3. Bachelor's thesis. You must upload a graded independent or co-written work (Bachelor's thesis) in its entirety together with your application. Please note that the official grade must be clearly visible on your transcripts or otherwise documented in your application.
    Deadline: February 13 2026

  4. If your Bachelor's does not include a thesis or if you are in your final year and have not yet completed your thesis, you are given the option to attach two relevant independent works such as course essays. These works must be connected to war and defence, and have obtained an official grade which must be clearly visible in your application. Only those who are in the final year of a bachelor's programme, or are in a programme that does not include a bachelor's thesis, can refer to other academic works.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  5. Proof of English eligibility (equivalent to English 6/English B in Sweden). Please check University Admissions webpage for the requirements for master’s level.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

Selection of eligible candidates

Selection is based on a comprehensive assessment of previous studies and the relevance of previous studies. Particular importance is given to the quality of the Bachelor’s thesis (or academics works) in terms of grade and subject relevance.
