Eira X - front-line logistics on the transparent battlefield
The project aims to develop and demonstrate an electric, modular platform for autonomous and drone-assisted navigation in complex environments. It combines civilian technology with advanced sensor fusion and human–automation interaction to enable safe logistics, rescue operations, and medical transport in dynamic and high-demand situations.
The project will deliver simulation tools, test data, and a scale demonstrator showing the potential of electric, self-reliant vehicle systems in demanding terrain. Expected impacts include enhanced robustness, sustainability, and resilience in both civilian and defense-related logistics and rescue operations, as well as strengthened Swedish innovation capacity in autonomous systems.
Four work packages cover drone-assisted navigation, human–automation interaction, physical demonstrator development, and needs analysis. Simulations, tests, and user studies will validate technology, usability, and scalability.
The project is led by Systems and is being carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Defence University, Chalmers University of Technology, Halmstad University and Volvo Construction Equipment.
