About Magna

Engelsk beskrivning om dig själv: I am senior lecturer (US: assistant professor) at the Department of Leadership and Command & Control at the Swedish Defence University, and I hold a PhD in political science from Stockholm University. My background is a master’s degree in political science with a focus on crisis management and international collaboration from Uppsala University, and a bachelor’s degree in informatics from Mälardalen University.

My research areas primarily include military professional ethics and ethical leadership, as well as instruments for soft norm governance. My research interests also encompass the conditions for developing a virtue-based approach as well as historical events that have influenced the design of administrative policy. My current research project is 'Ethics, Morality, and Value Base', which aims to produce teaching materials on applied military ethics tailored for the Officer Program and the Advanced Officer Program.

I have many years of experience in education at the university and am course coordinator and examiner for several courses every academic year. I teach and supervise in both civilian and military education, over time with a focus primarily on the field of ethics as well as on scientific methods. Currently, I am also a member of the Research and Education Board at the Swedish Defence University and vice-chair of the Education Committee. I am also a member of several of the advisory programme councils where I teach.
