I hold an M.Phil and PhD in History from the University of Copenhagen.
I specialise in contemporary history, the Cold War, international relations, defence and security policy, especially in the Nordic countries and Greenland.
I especially look at ideological, cultural and societal aspects of defence and security issues and how we perceive and imagine threat.
Among other things, I have worked with the intersection of the Cold War and the labour movement, Nordic transnationality, civil defence and preparedness, Danish-Greenlandic (post)colonial security issues and NATO.
I am currently researching air raid sirens as part of the Soundscapes of Warning project anchored at Linköping University (PI Marie Cronqvist).
In the future I hope to investigate further what happens when humans envision and plan for war and how far such imaginaries can go.
