Checklist for a complete application

Use the checklist below to keep track of important dates and required documents for Innovation, Defence and Security.

Upload all required documents to your user account on universityadmissions.se

  • All documents must be in Swedish, English, Danish or Norwegian or translated to any of these languages by an authorised translator.

  • Title all documents you upload. Make sure your documents are structured with a corresponding title and application year.

Checklist for required documents

  1. Degree certificate and transcript/grades. If your transcript does not specify that your degree includes a written thesis project consisting of a minimum of 15 credits, or equivalent, please upload documentation to that effect.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  2. If you are in your final Bachelor year, you can still apply. Please provide a signed and stamped document from your home university stating that you are likely to graduate before the semester when your master’s studies start. Please read more and use the statement of enrollment status form on University Admissions webpage. If admitted it will be with the condition that you submit your degree certificate before the start of the programme.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  3. Motivation letter of not more than 500 words in English, describing why you are applying to the programme and your assessment of how your previous education and potential professional experience can contribute to the defence and security sector after graduation.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  4. Grade point average (GPA). Check if your GPA is stated on your degree certificate. If not, you must upload a document showing your GPA. Further instructions on how to calculate your GPA can be found at the bottom of this page.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  5. Proof of Mathematics. The mathematics requirement (3B or 3C) is based on a certain level of upper secondary Mathematics in Sweden. The exact corresponding level in a foreign system is hard for us to assess prior to your application. We therefore ask that you upload documents showing your highest level of Math. If you intend to complete the mathematics requirement after February 2 2026 you need to mention this in your motivation letter. You can be admitted with the condition that you need to show proof of mathematics prior to the start of semester.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

  6. Proof of English eligibility (equivalent to English 6/English B in Sweden). Please check University Admissions webpage for the requirements for master’s level.
    Deadline: February 2 2026

Grade Point Average (GPA)

If your GPA is not stated on your degree certificate, you must upload a separate GPA summary document to your account on universityadmissions.se.

You may use the Excel file below to help you calculate your GPA:
Use this file in excel to help you calculate your Grade Point Average, GPA xlsx, 12.1 kB.

Your GPA summary document must include all four parts listed below.

1. Calculated average grade

Your GPA must be calculated based on the courses included in your bachelor’s degree, using the following formula:

Formula for calculation of Average grade = (The sum of (course grade x the course credit)) divided by total amount of course credits in your bachelor’s degree.

The picture above shows a formula for how to calculate Average grade = (The sum of (course grade x the course credit)) divided by total amount of course credits in your bachelor’s degree.

If your grades are awarded as letters, you must convert them to numerical values.

Example:
For a grade scale A–E, where E is the lowest passing grade:

  • A = 5
  • B = 4
  • C = 3
  • D = 2
  • E = 1

2. Minimum passing grade in your local grading system

State the lowest grade that is considered a pass in your university’s grading system.

3. Maximum grade in your local grading system

State the highest possible grade in your grading system.

4. Your statement

Your document must include your statement confirming that the information given is correct as to the best of your knowledge.
