Revisiting feminist perspectives on peace, (in)security and war

The project, whose aim is to publish an edited volume, rethinks and broadens feminist perspectives on peace and (in)security in the context of the current global rise in wars and violence.

We do so by moving beyond the Western feminist hegemony of thought and addressing epistemic injustices, silences and prevailing geo-epistemic hierarchies along the global East-West and South-North divides. We argue that a plurality of feminist thought is essential for understanding diverse violences and contexts, for responding to the realities on the ground, and for fostering transnational feminist solidarity.

The project thus interrogates global insecurity through elevating lived feminist knowledge and perspectives excluded from mainstream geopolitics and anglo-centric feminist conversations. It specifically aims to integrate empirically rich feminist research from historically marginalised Central and Eastern European contexts into core feminist debates.
