Antagen till masterprogrammet i politik och krig eller till forskarutbildning i statsvetenskap med inriktning krishantering och säkerhet.

Kursens huvudsakliga innehåll och upplägg

Kursen fokuserar på nya gränsöverskridande säkerhetshot såsom terrorism och pandemier samt utmaningarna för europeisk säkerhet och krishantering. Den syftar till att ge ett analytiskt och kritiskt förhållningssätt till säkerhets- och krishanteringsbegreppen samt deras tillämpning i teori och europeisk praktik. Kursen behandlar följande centrala problemområden: det vidgade säkerhetsbegreppet, gränsöverskridande kris, mänsklig säkerhet och genderperspektiv samt EU:s yttre och inre säkerhet. Den europeiska säkerhetsstrukturens utveckling problematiseras i ljuset av andra regionala erfarenheter. Kursen tar upp utmaningar och möjligheter för skapandet av EU:s krishanteringskapaciteter. Uppmärksamhet riktas även mot hur enskilda EU-medlemsstater såsom Sverige påverkas av dagens europeiska säkerhetssamarbete och unionens breddade krishanteringsförmåga.

Undervisningen sker i form av föreläsningar och seminarier där studenten förväntas bidra till den gemensamma inlärningen genom inlägg i diskussioner och skriftliga bidrag.

Mål

Efter avslutad kurs skall studenten kunna:

  • Kritiskt jämföra olika teoretiska perspektiv på europeisk säkerhet och krishantering.
  • Applicera skilda vetenskapliga metoder i syfte att analysera empiriska frågor inom området.
  • Värdera möjligheter och begränsningar för skapandet av EU:s säkerhet och krishanteringskapaciteter.
  • Kritiskt diskutera alternativa utvecklingsvägar för den europeiska säkerhets- och krishanteringsstrukturen.
  • Värdera och problematisera europeisk säkerhet och krishantering i förhållande till etiska konsekvenser och utgångspunkter.

Examinationsformer

Examination sker genom skriftliga seminarieuppgifter samt en avslutande muntlig examination.

Examinator kan besluta om komplettering för att betyget godkänd på kursen ska kunna uppnås. Komplettering ska genomföras senast tre arbetsdagar efter att besked om komplettering meddelats, om inte särskilda och av examinator godkända skäl föreligger.

Betyg
Betygssättning sker genom en tregradig betygsskala, Väl godkänd (VG) Godkänd (G) och Underkänd (U). Betygskriterier redovisas senast vid kursstart.

För betyget Godkänd (G) på kursen krävs Godkänd (G) på seminarieuppgifter och Godkänd (G) på muntlig examination.

För betyget Väl godkänd (VG) på kursen krävs utöver krav för Godkänd (G) Väl Godkänd (VG) på muntlig examination.

Antalet examinationstillfällen är inte begränsat.

Övergångsbestämmelser

När kursen inte längre ges eller när kursinnehållet väsentligen ändrats har studenten rätt att en gång per termin under en treterminsperiod examineras enligt denna kursplan.

Övriga föreskrifter

  • Kursen kan inte ingå i examen med annan kurs vars innehåll helt eller delvis överensstämmer med innehållet i denna kurs.
  • Om en student har ett beslut från Försvarshögskolan om särskilt pedagogiskt stöd pga. funktionsnedsättning, får examinator besluta om alternativa examinationsformer för studenten.
  • Kursvärdering genomförs efter avslutad kurs genom kursansvarigs försorg och ligger till grund för eventuella förändringar av kursen.
