Organisation of the library
The University Library is commissioned by the Swedish Defence University.
The library is a department within the university administration at the Swedish Defence University. The Library Director leads the activities within the department with overall personnel and operational responsibility.
The library's mission
- Support and promote the teaching, research and activities conducted by the Swedish Defence University.
- Coordinate the activities of the library at the Swedish Defence University, the branch at the Military Academy Karlberg and the library activities at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters.
- Coordinate information provision for education and research at the Swedish Defence University.
- Handle cases, documentation and decisions to the university management within the division's areas of responsibility.
- Manage the Swedish Defence University's strategic operational planning and development within the division's areas of activity.
The library's goals
- Be open and accessible and offer well-developed service that is adapted to the needs of different users.
- Characterized by competence and quality in all processes and be a professional support to all user categories.
- Be a leader in their subject area and take an active role in national, Nordic and international networks in the library sector.
