The Vice-Chancellor's Quality Dialogues

The Vice-Chancellor's annual quality dialogues for research and education are – together with FoUN's evaluations of research and education, the subjects' and programmes' internal quality work and the ongoing local and operational quality work – part of the Swedish Defence University's (SEDU) quality system.

The dialogues between subjects and university management are summarized in a report that draws general and university-wide conclusions. The report also structures the necessary university-wide actions to be taken and how these will be followed up, as well as integrated into SEDU’s operational planning.

Statistics related to research and education

The report also presents a set of relevant university-wide statistics. Before the quality dialogues, the operational support has prepared several key performance indicators related to research, including research revenue, productivity, staff and doctoral students, and related to education, including admission rates, performance, degrees, internationalization, and staff.

Quality Development Plans

Subjects and programs have prepared quality development plans in the form of self-evaluations, development plans, and action lists ahead of the dialogues. These plans, along with key performance indicators and the previous year’s plans, form the basis of the dialogues.

Rector’s Quality Dialogues with the Military Programs

The military programs are interdisciplinary and are followed up and evaluated in a special manner. The dialogues typically take place in the autumn semester each year as part of the rector's leadership team’s thematic days.

The rector holds the overall responsibility for quality in the entire institution, and thus also for ensuring that systematic quality assurance and quality development take place within the military programs. The rector is the chairperson and convener of the quality dialogues with the military programs. The rector decides on the timeline, themes, and questions for the dialogues, as well as the forms, materials, and structure for each dialogue.
