What does UKÄ rewiews?

The Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) rewiews higher education institutions to ensure the quality of Swedish higher education.

UKÄ is a government agency and their work is divided into three main areas:

  • They review the quality of higher education and the higher education institutions' systems for quality assurance of higher education and research. It is important for students, employers and society that all higher education in Sweden is of high quality.
  • They follow up and analyse developments and trends in Swedish higher education. They are also responsible for all official statistics in the higher education area.
  • They exercise legal oversight over all universities and colleges. This means that they review that universities and colleges comply with laws and regulations.

UKÄ conducts four types of reviews to ensure the quality of Swedish higher education - higher education institution reviews, programme evaluations, thematic evaluations and examinations of degree permits.

Here you can find information about current reviews at SEDU.
