Research areas

The centre takes an interdisciplinary approach to gender, peace and security; we publish and collaborate across feminist and gender studies, international relations, international political economy, war and military studies, peace and conflict studies, political sociology, queer studies, and ethnography.

Associates and affiliates of the centre work in multiple languages and are involved in projects covering all world regions, though with a strong focus on Sweden/ the Nordics. Our work is carried out by emerging and established scholars at different stages of their career paths, including doctoral and post-doctoral researchers. We use diverse research methods to work across feminist research, activism, and practice.

Our projects (see below also) and research collaborations explore several interconnected themes. These include, but are not limited to, women's participation in armed conflict, political transitions and peace processes, militarisation and the gendered political economy of war, militarisation and war preparedness, feminist mobilisation, resistance, and democracy-related struggles, gender integration in armed forces, and the relationship between digital technologies, authoritarianism, and security.
