The Academic Writing Service
As a student at the Swedish Defence University, you have access to the Academic Writing Service of Stockholm University, including one-to-one consultations, workshops and seminars.
Consultations are offered in Zoom, on Thursdays. Even weeks at Drottning Kristinas väg 37, odd weeks at Karlberg.
How it works
The consultation is an opportunity to ask questions about study habits, study techniques, and academic writing and speaking.
You can also receive feedback on an oral presentation or a paper that is part of your studies.
A specialist from the Academic Writing Service reads parts of your text, around two pages if it is a take-home examination. If you are writing an academic paper, you can obtain feedback on several occasions, but the specialist never reads more than about 30% of your text
Please note that your text will not be corrected. Instead, you will get help to improve the text on your own. The consultation is about 45 minutes long and you can visit the Academic Writing Service multiple times during the semester if you wish.
Make an appointment
You can book a consultation by sending an email including:
- Where at the SEDU you are studying.
- How long you´ve been studying
- Your native language.
- When you would like a consultation
- If you have a deadline
- What you would like the Academic Writing Service to help you with.
Send your email to email@example.com.
Book your consultation in good time, it is common that you have to wait for about two weeks. Email your text to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than two days before your consultation. If you are two people writing a paper together, it is a good idea that both of you attend the consultation.
Consultation at Stockholm University
You can also book a consultation at the Stockholm University campus, (the student house at Frescati). There you can also get extra support if you have a disability. You can book at www.su.se/sprakverkstaden.
Open seminars and workshops
The Academic Writing Service also offers open seminars and workshops about academic writing, speaking and study habits. You can find the programme and more information on the website of Stockholm University.
